Burj Khalifa

Wow. Just by looking at this photo makes me think that Burj Khalifa is definitely GRAND. This is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. I’m writing about this since this is one of the tallest man-made structure ever built. Burj Khalifa is 828 m or approximately 2,717 ft. It was built 21st of September 2004 and was completed by 1st of October 2009. But the building was not opened until the 4th of January 2010. I’ve read that the building is part of 490-acre flagship development called Downtown Dubai at the “First Interchange” along Sheikh Zayed Road, near Dubai’s main business district.

Nanjing Greenland Financial Center

Nanjing Greenland Financial Center is another one of the tallest buildings in the world. It is a 450-metre or 1,480 ft supertall skyscraper completed in April 2010 in Nanjing, China. Yes, just a few months ago! This is very new. It has 89 stories that features retail and office space in the lower section, and restaurants and a public observatory near the top. What I like about this is that it overlooks the The mixed-use tower, which overlooks Xuanwu Lake. It also has an observation deck on the 72nd floor, 287 m (942 ft) above ground. This provides an unobstructed, panoramic view of Nanjing and the nearby Yangtze River, two lakes and the Ningzheng Ridge mountains. I would want to check this out myself. This is definitely GRAND!

Petronas Towers

This tower never fails to amazed me. One of the tallest buildings in the world is Petronas Tower or popularly known as the Twin Towers, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Still the tallest twin building in the world. I have read that the towers were designed by the Argentine Architect César Pelli, with the buildings standing tall after a construction period of seven years. Wow, seven long years. It was definitely worth it because they did a GRAND job on this one!

International Commerce Centre

International Commerce Centre, one of the tallest buildings in the world is 484 m tall and located at West Kowloon, Hong Kong. And would you believe that it was built on top of Kowloon Station, of Hongkong’s MTR. It consists of 118 floors. The development is owned and jointly developed by MTR Corporation Limited and Sun Hung Kai Properties, Hong Kong’s metro operator and largest property developer respectively. No wonder they built it on top of a station! This is definitely, definitely GRAND!

Taipei 101

Taipei 101 the landmark skyscraper in Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan is one of the tallest buildings in the world! I love how the shape of this building was made. Shanghai World Financial Center

Amazing! That’s the only word that I can describe Shanghai World Financial Center. This is the third tallest building in the world. Located at Pudong, Shanghai, China this financial centre houses offices, hotels, conference rooms, observation decks, and shopping malls on the ground floors. This building is really amazing since it holds a big hotel called Hyatt Shanghai that composes of 174 rooms and suites and stands 494.4 m tall. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, the 101-story tower was originally planned for construction in 1997, unfortunately work was temporarily interrupted by the Asian Financial Crisis in the late 1990s and later to accommodate design changes by the developer. But now it stands tall, making the Chinese people proud!
