A Blog Post by Singapore’s Youngest Millionaire

By admin On December 22nd, 2009

This one is really inspiring. A Blog Post by Singapore’s Youngest Millionaire by Adam Khoo On Money.

Some of you may already know that I travel around the region pretty frequently, having to visit and conduct seminars at my offices in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Suzhou (China). I am in the airport almost every other week so I get to bump into many people who have attended my seminars or have read my books.

Recently, someone came up to me on a plane to KL and looked rather shocked. He asked, ËoHow come a millionaire like you is travelling economy? My reply was, Thats why I am a millionaire. He still looked pretty confused. This again confirms that greatest lie ever told about wealth (which I wrote about in my latest book Secrets of Self-Made Millionaire) . Many people have been brainwashed to think that millionaires have to wear Gucci, Hugo Boss, Rolex, and sit on first class
in air travel. This is why so many people never become rich because the moment that earn more money, they think that it is only natural that they spend more, putting them back to square one.

The truth is that most self-made millionaires are frugal and only spend on what is necessary and of value. That is why they are able to accumulate and multiply their wealth so much faster. Over the last 7 years, I have saved about 80% of my income while today I save only about 60% (because I have my wife, mother in law, 2 maids, 2 kids, etc. to support). Still, it is way above most people who save 10% of their income (if they are lucky). I refuse to buy a first class ticket or to buy a $300 shirt because I think that it is a complete waste of money. However, I happily pay $1,300 to send my 2-year old daughter to Julia Gabriel Speech and Drama without thinking twice.

Thinking like an Entrepreneur by Bo Sanchez

By admin On December 20th, 2009

From now on, you have to think like an Entrepreneur.

I can hear you saying, “But Bo, I’m an Employee!”

And you’re right. You may be an Employee in a bank or a call center or the corner bakery down the street. But your entire world is changing. Even if you’re working for someone else, you still have to think like an Entrepreneur.

Think this way. If your name is Rudolph Reyes, then you’re the Chairman of the Board of Rudolph Reyes Personal Services Inc.

Why the shift?

Because I’ve met so many people who are miserable in their jobs and all they do is complain the whole day about their crummy boss and their crummy salary and their crummy company.

Listen.

Complaining accomplishes nothing.

Complaining is useless.

In the time of Moses, the Complainers got stuck in the desert for 40 years. They never set one foot on the Promised Land.

Instead of complaining, take charge!

God made you responsible for your career.

Unless you take responsibility, nothing happens.

A Taxi Driver turned Bank President by Bo Sanchez

By admin On December 17th, 2009

It all started when my plane to Cebu was delayed by 5 hours.

While my fellow-passengers around were acting like enraged volcanoes spewing lava, cursing the catastrophe that befell upon us—I smiled and closed my eyes. Instantly, I felt peace. I whispered, “Lord, you have a special surprise in store for me.”

And in minutes, I discovered my gift.

That special surprise was Ray, a man who would bless me with his life. He also gave me key business ideas that would double my income.

He greeted me with a firm handshake and a friendly smile. “I watch you on TV,” he said, “and I text my family and friends to watch you.”

Like me, Ray’s flight to Mindanao was delayed for 8 hours. (All the flights that day were delayed. The airport looked like a refugee camp with people sitting on the floor and crowds begging for food from the airline personnel.)

I didn’t know why, but I sensed a connection with the man in front of me.

Later on, I discovered why.

Make Your Joy Appointments by Bo Sanchez

By admin On December 15th, 2009

Two weeks ago, I asked you to make your Joy List. (And man, I had fun reading your Joy Lists! Awesome.)

Today, I’ll be asking you to take the next step: Make Joy Appointments.

Writing your Joy List is only the start. Unless you make Joy Appointments, nothing much will happen. It will be like everyone’s list of New Year’s resolutions. We know what happens to that.

If you need to be reminded, look at the expensive exercise equipment lying somewhere in your house, collecting dust. Did you know that 97% of all exercise equipment end up this way?

Friends, here are the 5 Steps to filling your life with more joy.

Step #1: Write your Joy List

If you haven’t made your Joy List yet, I urge you to do it now. Define what makes you happy. Define what you love. Define what makes you peaceful, whole, fulfilled, excited, and happy. (Please read my previous article, “What Is Your Joy List?”)

Step #2: Choose one item in your Joy List

Don’t try to do them all of them at the same time—or you’ll get overwhelmed. Start with one item first! Check what you feel is the most important activity that gives you the most joy. It’s an activity that you want more of in your life. It could be playing time with your kids, or having solo time with God, or curling up on the couch for some reading time. The choice is yours.

Step #3: Make a Joy Appointment in your weekly or monthly calendar

Invest in your joy! Write this activity in your calendar as a regular item in your week. For example, when I got married 10 years go, I wanted to date the greatest girl of my galaxy once a week. And so for the past 10 years, I’ve been faithful to this promise. How? Easy. I put it on a specific day and time of the week. So I don’t forget. It’s that simple. (I won’t tell you what day that is. Here’s the reason why: I get hundreds of invitations to speak every month. And I don’t want people to tell me, “Bo, we picked this day because we know it’s your date night with your wife. Just this once, please speak to our group?” The answer is still No.) Unless I’m out of the country or World War III breaks out, I won’t miss my date night with my wife. She’s my joy.

Step #4: Choose a second Joy and make another Joy Appointment

When the first activity you chose is already consistent—like you’ve done it for three times already—go back to your Joy List. Check a second item that’s important to you. Repeat: This is something you want to have more in your life. Make this a Joy Appointment too. Regularize it in your weekly or monthly calendar. Make it immovable.

Step #5: Repeat the Process

Get a third item from your Joy List. And a fourth. And a fifth. Believe me, after three to six months, you won’t recognize yourself. You want to pinch yourself and say, “Is this me? Is this my life? Gosh, I’m filled with so much joy!”

Remember: If you don’t determine what you’ll do in your week, others will do that for you. The TV producers would want you to watch TV. The food advertisers would want you to keep eating their food. The video game makers would want you to keep playing their games.

Define your joy.

And do it.

Don’t Complicate your Life by Bo Sanchez

By admin On December 8th, 2009

“Excuse me, where is the Trinity?”

I was walking in the lobby of St. Luke’s hospital in Quezon City when this man came up and hit me with this very deep question.

He looked very confused. My guess was that he recognized me from my TV show or my books and decided to ask me a spiritual question. So I gave him my best shot. I dug deep into my theology and said, “The Trinity is all around us. The Trinity is within you. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one…”

His face looked even more puzzled, so I tried even harder. “I know this is difficult to understand, but there are three persons in one God…” I explained. “Think of fire. The flame, the light, and the heat are separate things yet they’re one. Just like the Trinity.” Believe me, I was mesmerized by my own intelligence.

That was when he interrupted my brilliant answer and said, “Uh, that’s great, but uh… I just want to know where the Holy Trinity School is?”

“Oh…,” I turned red as a tomato and said, “Go right at E. Rodriguez and you’ll see it in 5 minutes…” He thanked me and left in a huff. Probably to get away as fast as he can from the religious kook he was talking to.

By admin On December 2nd, 2009

I have to post the 10 things (and persons too!?) that makes me happy. Then tag ten other people and spread the LOVE!

1. God – # 1 on my list is God. He is definitely funny, I can say. With all the things that happen in my life, He made me laugh and smile. Everyday He has something for me. He never ceases to provide and that makes me happy.

2. Hubby – who never fails to amaze me. He smiles right the minute he wakes up. He makes me smile too when I’m bored and sad.

3. Alex – is also another person who makes me happy. One smile from her, it makes my heart burst with joy!

4. My Job – it keeps me sane. It gives me space and time for myself. It makes me realize that I have something to be proud of.

5. Grey’s Anatomy – everyday I would watch two episodes of this series. I stopped watching for months since I was very busy but now, I won’t put it off again…

6. Healthy food – thank God for this. It makes us strong, healthy, and happy!

7. Books – I love to read so when I get to read a good book, it makes me really happy.

8. Nature – I love nature. It makes me feel how much God loves me that He made all this for us.

9. My Blogs – yes, it makes me share my experiences and when I read other people’s blogs I learned from them too. It makes me happy when I get assignments. LOL!

10. Coffee and Desserts – no need to explain right? hehe…
