Graduation or Moving Up Days

By admin On March 31st, 2010

Another great feeling is to watch your son or daughter on her graduation or moving up day. Such a great feeling to be able to see your daughter improved after all her hard work in school. Because of this huge day, you would want to celebrate with your family and give out graduation invitations. Of course you would want people to know that you were proud of what your daughter has accomplished. When I was graduating, the effect was not that much. But when I watched my daughter during her moving up day, I was close to tears. With this I realized that everything is way different now that I’m a parent. I wish all the graduates this school year a success in their career and may they choose the right path.

Thought for the Day.

The Legacy of the Fearless

By admin On March 27th, 2010

I came across this nice article through email that I wanted to share here.

Anxiety is the fear of the unknown. Our mind can sense danger that
triggered fear in our mind.

Fear of Trying…
You will never learn to swim unless you jump into the water… The
same words apply to every opportunity along the way. You will never know
the right and the wrong without even trying. You will never get the
price until you start to compete.

“It is better to cross the line and be caught than to stand still in
your place for the rest of your life” – RULE OF PATINTERO

If you never risk, you never learn… LIFE = RISK

Most people live and die with their music still unplayed. They never
dare to try.

So JUMP in the water, you will never swim unless you jump in the water.

Fear of losing…Failure is success upside down. Failure is part of
the formula to success. Failure + Learning = Success.

In a world of uncertainty and change, the one who don’t master the
art of change often lose. Failure of Today doesn’t mean a failure
for tomorrow. But a quitter of today is a failure of tomorrow.

NEVER GIVE UP… NEVER BACKED DOWN… KEEP MOVING FORWARD… I
used this battle cry in my highschool days when I am a varsity of
marathon. And I still use that today. It raises my energy to the limit
that I can’t notice my feet keeps on running even in pain strikes
because of over fatigue.

Winner in the world was shattered by failures and breakdowns. But they
always keep the energy to move on. Winners know that in every breakdown,
there is a breakthrough. Hikers know that in every heavy rain, there is
a rainbow.

Champions know that when they fail, they learn. And when they stand up
and fight again, they are more vigorous and stout.
Remember: The strongest tree in the forest was not the acacia tree that
is covered with forest. The strongest is the acacia tree that stands out
in the crowd and experienced tremendous storm and intense heat of the
sun. He knows that in every storm, he has the opportunity to strengthen
his roots and survived.

So why worry? Worrying has never solved a problem, never paid a bill,
and never cured an illness. Worrying is like racing a car engine in
neutral because it doesn’t get you anywhere, it just uses up gas!

Worry is like a rocking chair, it will give you something to do, But it
won’t get you anywhere.

WHAT TIME IS IT? Answer is NOW…

Smooth Agile DMT Elliptical

By admin On March 26th, 2010

Lately, I’ve been planning on how to start doing my routine exercises. It’s so hard especially if you don’t own a gym in your house. Now I was wondering if elliptical machines would be able to help me at least establish a routine. It’s just so hard to start. I found this nice Smooth Agile DMT Elliptical that would go well in our family room.

Isn’t it GRAND? My target would be to be healthy for the rest of the year (and the coming years) so I guess having to own a machine like that would help me start a routine. What I can probably do is wake up an hour earlier than my usual wake up time, do exercises for 30 minutes, eat a healthy breakfast like oatmeal and coffee and then it’s time to start off my day!

The Philippine Tarsier

By admin On March 25th, 2010

* Photo grabbed from here.

As promised, here is another post about Bohol in the Philippines. Tarsier, being one of the smallest primate in the world is one of the tourist attractions in Bohol. Take note that it is not a monkey thus, this is not the smallest monkey. It is one of the primates, has a gray fur and a nearly naked tail. The middle finger is elongated. Head and body length are around 118-149 mm; It weighs 113-142 grams. Males are larger than females. Tarsier is known for its really big eyes. In volume, the capacity of the bony eye orbits, or eye sockets, is larger than that of the brain case, and also larger than its stomach. This made them so cute (or scary for some).

You can visit the tarsier at the Philippine Tarsier Foundation, and see it in its natural habitat.

Planning on Working Abroad? Find an Immigration Lawyer.

By admin On March 25th, 2010

I remember when I was in the United States, I had a chance to talk to an Immigration lawyer to inquire about my status. I was actually on training then and worked on some projects for a US-based company. It was a long conversation about working visas, EB-5 Visas, B1/B2 visas, on being a US citizen and more. I was able to pick up a lot of information from this immigration lawyer which was nice and helpful. That was before when internet was not yet fully board. But now that everything is on internet, did you know that you can actually get a whole of information on websites that cater these kind of status. They have “Frequenstly Ask Questions”, some narratives and articles about being an immigrant. On what benefits the Regional Centers can give to the immigrants. What they can do to help the people who applied for green card and more.

My Mom can actually relate to this since she already migrated last December of 2009. She was able to get a lot of information on the documents that she needs to submit, the steps of the immigration process, and more importantly what to bring when she travels and finally live in the US. This is of course her first time to apply so she needs all the help that she can get. She found the internet and websites pretty much helpful in completing the requirements. If these type of websites are readily available last 2001 I would have check it out myself. I just love services being offered in the internet. The beauty of being able to access a lot of information in the comforts of your home. I can truly relate to this especially since I started working from home. That’s the reason why I was so joyful when I found out that you can get all the information that you need about immigration at DarrenSilver.com.

Chocolate Hills in Bohol Philippines

By admin On March 24th, 2010

One of my favorite tourist destination in the Philippines is Bohol. This is where you would see the amazing chocolate hills. It was called “chocolate hills” because it turns dry and brown during the summer. It consists of 1,268 haycock hills spread over three municipalities which made it the most photographed landscape in the province. The 30-meter-high hills of limestone, shale and sandstone were actually formed centuries ago by tidal movements. Amazing isn’t it? When you are Bohol, don’t fail to visit the white sand beaches and visit the smallest living primate in the world which is the Philippine TARSIER. Will post more on that later.

Victoria Falls

By admin On March 22nd, 2010

Another one which is considered to be among the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The Victoria Falls is located in southern Africa on the Zambezi River between the countries of Zambia and Zimbabwe. The falls of Victoria is one of the largest falls in the whole world. The Scottish missionary and explore, David Livingstone has first viewed this amazing falls. It has a width of 1,708 metres (5,604 ft) and height of 108 meters (360 ft), forming the largest sheet of falling water in the world. The falls’ maximum flow rate compares well with that of other major waterfalls.

The falls are formed as the full width of the river plummets in a single vertical drop into a transverse chasm 1708 meters (5604 ft) wide, carved by its waters along a fracture zone in the basalt plateau. The depth of the chasm, called the First Gorge, varies from 80 metres (262 ft) at its western end to 108 metres (360 ft) in the centre. The only outlet to the First Gorge is a 110-metre-wide (360 ft) gap about two-thirds of the way across the width of the falls from the western end, through which the whole volume of the river pours into the Victoria Falls gorges.

Looking for Lighting Fixtures.

By admin On March 19th, 2010

While I was trying to fix the house and check on the improvements that we need to do, I realized that I need to buy new lighting fixtures for the entertainment room. We haven’t used this part of the house recently so we didn’t know that the lighting fixtures are broken already. We only use this room when we watch DVDs or bond with the kids. But since we were busy with a lot of things lately, we just weren’t able to use the room. There are a lot of lighting fixtures to choose from. I’m glad that I can do this online. You see, it’s so hard to shop when kids are in tow. You just can’t concentrate and focus on what you really need. You ended up buying the stuff that you first see. I’m so glad I can actually shop for lighting fixtures online. These are one of the things that it takes time to buy. So when I have the free time, I can just browse through the website and after a few clicks, the item is mine.

Paricutin Volcano.

By admin On March 19th, 2010

Paricutin Volcano is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. This is a cinder cone volcano located in the Mexican state of Michoacán. Paricutín is part of the Michoacán-Guanajuato Volcanic Field, which covers much of west central Mexico. Amazing how it was seen by the owner who is a farmer when it erupted. They were plowing the field when it happened. The volcano grew quickly after it erupted making it so big that you can already see this volcano from afar. I wonder how that happened? Unfortunately a lot villages near the volcano were buried with lava and ashes which made the residents relocate away from the area.
